Stories like this make me wonder if the perpetrator acted under the influence of drugs or if he is mentally incapacitated in some way. Research indicates that every human is capable of killing especially in situations of extreme passion or for self protection or to protect a loved one. Of course people go the extra mile and kill for greed, envy and other loathsome motives.
But when the victim is a total stranger and, to top it off, a child who probably never offended the perpetrator in any way, my mind has difficulty processing how a sane person could do that. Are people really that evil or am I being unduly naïve?
